Profile of Departmen

The Department of Basic and Emergency Nursing at the Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FK-KMK UGM) is one of the four nursing departments within FK-KMK. Like other departments at FK-KMK, the KDE Department was established in 2016 and consists of two divisions: Basic Nursing and Management Division and Emergency Nursing Division. Currently, the KDE Department has 15 teaching staff supported by four educational staff members. The Department of Basic and Emergency Nursing has strategic research coverage in critical care, disaster management, prehospital and intrahospital emergency nursing, nursing education, nursing management, among others.

Department Excellence

Flagship programs in the Department of Basic and Emergency Nursing include:

  1. Active involvement in acute response and disaster management, collaborating with the disaster task force of FK-KMK UGM and relevant institutions/agencies (BPD, SAR, DERU, etc.).
  2. Basic Life Support (BLS) training for both healthcare professionals and the general public.
  3. Disaster preparedness training for nurses and the general public.
  4. Training related to nursing management. Training in the development and creation of instructional designs for nursing education.
  5. Diagnostic and Clinical Reasoning training.
  6. Training related to the creation and development of informatics and technology in nursing (EHR, virtual reality, applications, usability testing, etc.).
