Program Studi Ilmu Keperawatan Menerima Candidacy Status dari ACEN
Program Studi Ilmu Keperawatan (PSIK), Fakultas Kedokteran, Kesehatan Masyarakat, dan Keperawatan, UGM secara resmi menyandang candidacy status dari Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) terhitung sejak 25 Januari 2023. Candidacy status tersebut diperoleh PSIK FKKMK setelah melewati proses eligibility dan dinyatakan eligible pada tahun 2022. Candidacy status tersebut menandakan bahwa PSIK FKKMK UGM layak untuk melanjutkan ke proses selanjutnya, initial accreditation. ACEN merupakan lembaga akreditasi pendidikan keperawatan internasional yang berbasis di Amerika Serikat, dibawah the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) yang juga telah diakui oleh Kementerian Pendidikan, Kebudayaan, Riset, dan Teknologi Republi Indonesia.
PSIK FKKMK UGM menjadi institusi pendidikan keperawatan pertama di Indonesia yang menjalani proses akreditasi ini. Proses akreditasi internasional dari Lembaga ACEN ditempuh oleh PSIK FKKMK UGM sebagai bentuk upaya peningkatan kualitas pendidikan secara berkelanjutan (Continues Quality Improvement), setelah sebelumnya mendapat sertifikasi dari Asian University Network (AUN) pada tahun 2017. Untuk memperoleh akreditasi dari ACEN, institusi pendidikan keperawatan harus melalui proses eligibility, consulting visit, dan akhirnya accreditation. Setelah memperoleh status eligible, PSIK telah melaksanakan tahap selanjutnya yaitu consulting visit pada 10 – 12 Januari 2023. Pada pelaksanaan consulting visit, assessor hadir untuk melakukan observasi proses pembelajaran yang ada di kampus dan wahana praktik. Selain itu, assessor juga memeriksa berkas-berkas pendukung (supporting evidence) dan melakukan wawancara kepada berbagai pihak terkait mulai dari mahasiswa, dosen, tim akademik, dekanat, hingga jajaran rektorat, dengan tujuan validasi data terkait pelaksanaan pendidikan keperawatan di UGM. Semua itu dilakukan karena hasil akhir dari consulting visit adalah menentukan apakah institusi layak menjadi untuk maju ke tahap selanjutnya, yaitu accreditation atau initial accreditation bagi institusi yang baru pertama kali mengikuti proses akreditasi ACEN.
Berkat upaya yang tekun dari PSIK FKKMK UGM dan dukungan penuh dari universitas, fakultas, dan semua pihak yang terlibat, ACEN secara resmi memutuskan bahwa PSIK FKKMK UGM berhak untuk melanjutkan ke tahap selanjutnya yaitu initial accreditation. Dengan demikian candidacy status dari ACEN resmi disandang oleh PSIK FKKMK UGM terhitung sejak 25 Januari 2023. Nama PSIK FKKMK UGM sebagai candidate telah tercantum pada website resmi ACEN, bersama dengan institusi pendidikan keperawatan lain di dunia.

UGM – ARU Collaboration: Transnational Education in Nursing
The Department of Nursing Universitas Gadjah Mada is collaborating with the Faculty of Health, Education, Medicine and Social Care (FHEMS) at Anglia Ruskin University, The United Kingdom in the project “Transnational Education Nurse The United Kingdom – Indonesia (TNE Nurse UKIND)”. This project is a joint project of UGM and ARU as the Going Global Partnership awardee funded by British Council Indonesia.

The TNE Nurse UKIND aims to enhance collaboration between ARU and UGM in education in nursing competencies that are transferable and relevant to the healthcare systems in Indonesia and the United Kingdom. Starting in January 2022, the Team has held several events: virtual seminars and workshops; join teaching sessions “Pain Assessment and Management” for students; ARU became one of the co-hosts of The 4th International Joint Conference on Nursing (IJCNS) which was held by UGM; as well as the ARU Team’s visit to Indonesia at the end of the year.
During the visit to Indonesia, the ARU Team and the UGM Team carried out various activities offline and hybrid. The activities carried out included meetings with the Vice Dean of Academic and Student Affairs; holding face-to-face workshops; guest lectures; and “Moving and Handling” teaching sessions for lecturers.
The Face-to-face Workshop “Undergraduate Nursing Curriculum and Competencies Benchmarking” is one of the “core activities” of this collaborative project. This workshop was held on November 28th – 29th, 2022. The participants consisted of lecturers from various nursing education institutions in Yogyakarta, Regional INNA and AINEC representatives, as well as representatives from Hospitals. This workshop aims to compare existing nursing education in Indonesia and The United Kingdom by identifying differences and similarities between the two countries from various aspects.
Various collaborative activities carried out by the UKIND TNE Nurse Team involved various parties in the field of nursing education from Indonesia and The United Kingdom. Lecturers, nurse leaders, hospitals, professional organizations, The NMC UK, and students from both universities. This collaborative project will continue in 2023 when the Team plans to hold workshops, focus group discussions, and training which is a follow-up to the activities that have been implemented in 2022.
