BIOSKETCH

Christantie Effendy is a professor in medical surgical nursing since 2023, a Senior lecturer, and researcher at School of Nursing, Universitas Gadjah Mada Yogyakarta, Indonesia in Department of Medical Surgical Nursing. She has been interested in palliative care, cancer care, colostomy care, and wound care. In 2008, she finished her Master degree in Clinical Epidemiology at the Universitas Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta. She became more focused on cancer patients’ care when she joined the Indonesian Ostomy Association (InOA), which is an organization under auspices of the Indonesian Cancer Foundation (ICF). She was actively conducting “bedside teaching” about how to treat the stoma and use a colostomy bag correctly for cancer patients with a colostomy, and she taught families how to be prepared for the treatment of cancer patients at home. In 2010, she and her colleagues developed a Palliative team in the School of Nursing. A yearly Seminar in Palliative care and research in palliative care and cancer care are the priority of the team. Since 2015, she is appointed as a Chairwoman of Oncology Nurse Association (Ketua Himpunan Perawat Onkologi-HIMPONI) Special Region of Yogyakarta Chapter. Since 2017, she is active as a member of Collegium in Oncology Nursing Indonesia. Currently she is a member of IAHPC and the Indonesian Palliative Society. She also as a member of Palliative care team at Dr Sardjito General Hospital and Universitas Gadjah Mada Hospital. She is active as an invited speaker for research in nursing area, palliative care, cancer care and also entrepreneur in nursing. In 2018, She starts her clinic (namely Lotus Care) for wound care and palliative home care services.

Christantie has some research Interests i.e. Palliative care, End of Life care, Cancer care, Patient-Centered care, Quality of life, Quality of care, Quality indicators, Wound care management, Long-term care, Family caregivers, Dementia care. Currently she had been published about 20 articles in International journal and about 4 articles in National Journal.
